Optimizing generative AI usage
Anyone who works in a technical capacity has likely wondered how to leverage AI in their role. I would like to make it clear that we should maintain a focus on what is practical for operationalizing tooling for our roles. AI is an applied usage of statistics that has matured to not only categorize but suggest content. At the time of writing, “general AI,” where a model can fully operate as an independent worker, is unlikely to be ready for the public anytime soon.
There has been a large amount of development effort in services to leverage generative AI in the form of recommending content based on categorization. This is why, at the time of writing, we have seen major technology vendors release services that summarize and analyze focal use cases as opposed to actioning work on our behalf.
