Summary
In this chapter, users were introduced to how to set up real-time wireless networks in ns-3 using propagation loss models, error models, and rate control algorithms. We also introduced how to use standard Wi-Fi MAC features for setting up wireless ad hoc networks or LANs, configuring rate control algorithms, handling hidden nodes, and handling large frame transmissions.
In particular, users were introduced to wireless ad hoc network setups through interesting hands-on activities. As part of evaluating ad hoc networks, users practiced how to enable ns-3’s ad hoc routing algorithms (DSDV, OLSR, DSR, and AODV), and how to use an ns-3 energy model to estimate the energy consumption of ns-3 Wi-Fi nodes. In the next chapter, we are going to learn about advanced Wi-Fi technology (802.11 n, ac, and ax) feature simulations using interesting ns-3 hands-on activities.
