Using new virtual hardware
The virtual machine hardware version is a set of hardware features. In most cases, it's the host's physical hardware used for virtual features, including PCI slots, EFI, CPUs, and so on.
The hardware version defines the following:
- Memory limits for VMs
- CPU limits for VMs
- The storage and network adapters available
- Guest OSes available for a VM
- Other virtual hardware capabilities
