Business Requirements Document
In the previous chapter, we learned about process flow diagrams. We started by developing the current state process flow and then refined the process by analyzing and identifying gaps and improvement opportunities. By effectively collaborating and using the right techniques, we can develop a process for the desired future state.
This chapter will discuss how to document requirements in a Business Requirements Document (BRD). We will cover two types of business requirements – user and product. We will discuss functional requirements and non-functional requirements. We will review the level of detail to be captured in the BRD so that a business team, technical team, and quality team can understand the requirements in greater detail with a rationale so that they can address true needs during the solution design phase of a project.
