Prerequisites
Assuming that you want to automate and integrate your systems with OneOps using the REST interface, you should have a functional knowledge of what REST is and how a typical REST API functions. REST stands for REpresentational State Transfer. It is a web standards-based architecture where everything is represented as a resource, and it can be accessed using standard HTTP methods, such as GET
, PUT
, POST
, and DELETE
. Data is usually passed back and forth between the client and server in text, XML, or JSON. JSON is the preferred format lately.

REST is a stateless protocol. This means that, between requests, no session is maintained. Hence, each request is self-contained and must contain all the state information required to fulfill that request.
Thus, using the REST architecture OneOps provides a set of RESTful web services that can be accessed using unique Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs).
