Version control

Maintaining source code is impossible without some measure of version control. There are many version control systems available, but one of the most popular--and the one used by the Moodle community--is Git. Git is a Distributed Version Control System (DVCS), and it makes sense that the Moodle source code should be managed using some form of distributed system as Moodle's development community is scattered worldwide. The Moodle community uses GitHub--https://github.com. Delving into the details of how you use Git and GitHub are beyond the scope of this book.
