Understanding CBA protection
This recipe will cover the information you need to understand both the prerequisites as well as what can be expected from certificate-based authentication for System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.
A service provider must always be able to provide a restore scenario for data sources that reside in a domain that he or she does not trust. Looking at a normal company, the IT department should be seen as service providers and not IT professionals. Their job is to deliver optimal services to the company or organization in the most efficient way.
The following workloads can be protected using CBA:
- Files
- SQL Server
- Hyper-V
- Secondary DPM server
When protecting data sources that are clustered, you can protect them using certificate-based authentication.
