The overall concept


The overall concept was simple. With the support of the CEO, an eternal migration phase was avoided. Hence, high costs were avoided. All PC workstations, tablet PCs, and mobile devices were installed with the Microsoft Lync client software. Users could choose from a range of Lync certified USB hand, headsets, and Bluetooth devices by Jabra, Plantronics, and Sennheiser. Non-PC workstations (lobby telephones, telephones at the reception, fax machines, and so on) are now connected by the SIP Carrier IP Centrex extensions and have the same or a similar set of features needed for their "daily" business. Contoso implemented, at this point, special training for all employees who use the lobby phones and fax devices.
