Understanding scale-out repositories and what is new in version 10

Within the Veeam Backup & Replication software, there are two types of repositories where you store your backups:

• Standard repository: This can be direct-attached storage (DAS), Network File System (NFS), Server Messaging Block (SMB), Common Internet File System (CIFS), and Windows or Linux file servers, as well as deduplicating storage appliances, such as ExaGrid, Data Domain, and HPE StoreOnce:

Also, adding a capacity tier is regarded as a standard repository as well, which you can use in the scale-out repository:

• Scale-out repository: This consists of standard repositories called extents and may also contain a capacity tier:
