In this chapter, we learned about the new object store in Ceph called BlueStore. Hopefully, you have a better understanding of why it was needed and the limitations in the existing filestore design. You should also have a basic understanding of the inner workings of BlueStore and feel confident in how to upgrade your OSDs to BlueStore.
In the next chapter we will look at how Ceph storage can be exported via commonly used storage protocols to enable Ceph storage to be consumed by non-Linux clients.
