Setting up storage optimization
The following steps will discuss storage optimization and the procedure used to discover virtual machines that are idle, turned off, or overprovisioned resources. Storage optimization is the practice of adding storage to virtual machines that are low on disk space and lowering or removing storage on machines in your virtual environment that are rarely used. This is a preventative maintenance step used to properly reallocate storage resources and save the storage cost. You will run reports from the Veeam® ONE™ VMware optimization pack to find the idle virtual machines and over machines with inefficient storage use. The steps are as follows:
Open Veeam® ONE™ Reporter and navigate to the Workspace tab. The left pane of the Workspace tab contains a hierarchy of folders containing reports, as shown in the following screenshot. Then, click on the Templates menu item.
Locate the VMware optimization or Hyper-V optimization pack.
