Time for action – using OpenID for authentication


Let us see how we can enable OpenID in Liferay, and how we can log in using our Yahoo! credentials:

  1. Log in to Liferay as an administrator, that is, using test@liferay.com as the username and test as password.

  2. Navigate to the Control Panel by clicking on Manage | Control Panel from the dock bar.

  3. Click on Portal Settings available in the Portal section, and click on Authentication from the right side. Then click on the OpenID tab, as shown in the following screenshot:

  4. Check the Enabled checkbox, if it is not already checked. This would enable OpenID. To confirm whether OpenID is enabled, log out from the portal. You should see the OpenID option available in the Sign In portlet, as shown in the following screenshot:

  5. Click on the OpenID link available, which would bring up the following screen:

  6. Type in yahoo.com in the text box provided, as we will be using Yahoo! as OpenID service provider, so make sure you have a Yahoo! account created, and click...
