ML and industrial IoT

AI and ML are such overloaded terms at the moment. Typically, when something looks new and exciting, the vendor marketing machines get ahold of it and turn it into anything and everything they can sell. There is no doubt that advances in AI and ML in the last few years have been tremendous, and bringing this capability to the masses, or at least to the technical community, has been one of the more significant focuses of cloud providers. Initially, we will outline the concepts of AI and ML and steer the focus of this chapter toward our final goals.

AI is a grand concept focused on creating intelligent or smart machines; its goal is to mimic human-type intelligence, specifically the ability to learn and solve problems.
