Preparing the lab infrastructure and tools

In the last chapter, we deployed an Azure Arc data controller in indirect mode. In this chapter, we will be deploying it in direct mode so that you can learn and identify differences between both connectivity modes through hands-on exercises. To avoid duplication, you will see many sections and instructions being referenced to previous chapters.

Please refer to Chapter 5, Azure Arc Enabled PostgreSQL Hyperscale, and go to the Preparing the lab infrastructure and tools section to complete following the lab infrastructure setup:

Install the Azure CLI and the Kubernetes CLI
Deploy Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Install Azure Data Studio and the Azure Data CLI (azdata)

Once your base lab infrastructure is ready, we will proceed with onboarding a Kubernetes cluster to Azure Arc.
