VSUM has two components: the backend as a virtual appliance and frontend as GUI integrated into VMware vCenter Server. The virtual appliance will be configured with an IP address similar to VMware vCenter management IP address subnet. Once a virtual appliance is deployed on the ESXi, it establishes the connectivity with VMware vCenter Server to access the vCenter and hosts.
