Dynamic and Live Components

Dynamic Components and Live Components are special types of Components that rely on Extensions to give them additional features. Dynamic Components were released in 2008 in SketchUp Version 7. Since then, users have been able to create and modify their own Dynamic Components, and use the Dynamic Components created by the SketchUp team. The Components panel even has a Dynamic Components Training Collection in the Select pane to help users get started with Dynamic Components.

Live Components are the more recent addition, as they were introduced in 2020. Live Components are web-generated Components that can be loaded into a SketchUp model but rely on a connection with the SketchUp cloud server to be updated. Live Components cannot be created by users but can be edited from a collection in 3D Warehouse, and then used in local SketchUp models.
