Summary
We started this chapter with an introduction to forecasting from a cost accounting perspective. We also examined the company’s income statement and pinpointed the IT cost categories. Then, we set up our solution and imported usage details data using the Microsoft Power BI Cost Management connector. This connector provides a wealth of usage and charges information. We looked at three methods of forecasting: manual, past usage, and advanced forecasting by application. We ended this chapter by showing how to create separate reservation and Marketplace purchase reports.
