Troubleshooting VM Networking
Networking services can be tricky, especially when communicating between multiple VMs. Many factors can influence traffic reaching its intended destination, such as route tables with custom routes, NSGs, firewalls, and open ports within the operating system. The exercise in this section assists you in uncovering how to test connectivity between two VMs within a network and understanding the impact of resources such as an NSG on the routing of traffic between your VMs.
Exercise 13.4: Troubleshooting VM Networking
In this exercise, you will assess the connectivity of two VMs within a network, join two VMs onto the same subnet within a VNet, and prove they can communicate. You will then configure an NSG on both the NIC and subnet layers and demonstrate the net effect of an NSG across both layers.
