Understanding Azure Stack Hub licensing models
There are two main components of the Azure Stack Hub software:
- Cloud infrastructure: Facilitates the system, including the portal
- Services: Customer workloads running on the system
You will only be billed for the services that are running on the Azure Stack Hub instance. Examples of billed services are virtual machines that have been deployed from the Azure Stack Hub marketplace and Azure services such as Azure App Service.
There are two ways in which the services can be licensed:
- Pay-as-you-use (consumption-based model)
- Capacity model
We will cover each of these different licensing models, starting with the pay-as-you-use consumption model.
