Shortening using Ripple Trim with Sync Locks enabled
The introduction to the earlier Opening up the sequence using Splice with Sync Locks enabled recipe includes an overview of Sync Locks. You may find it helpful to review it before moving on to this recipe.
Getting ready
In this recipe, let's imagine that, as assumed earlier in the chapter, you're editing a scene of a comedy television program.
The goals in this example are as follows (see the next screenshot):
Previously you had extended only the video for segment 64B/18 (a close-up shot of one actor's shocked reaction to another actor's line of dialog, which added Filler on tracks A1 and A2). Later you plan to add some audience laughter to cover the silent region of Filler.
You've watched the timing of shots 64B/18 and 64A/11 and you feel that 64B/18 is lasting a bit too long before cutting to 64A/11. So you want to shorten the video.
