Accuracy and battery life
Before we start to look at some examples, we need to talk about the accuracy of the location you are going to retrieve and the effect it has on battery life. If you are going to grab the user's location just once, this isn't important, but if you are planning to track the user's location, you need to be aware of the effect it will have. When you ask for the device's location, you can specify how accurate you want the location to be. A low level of accuracy is not hard for the phone to work out as it can derive the location from the phone company operator by checking the details of the mobile signal. Higher levels of accuracy mean the phone has to use GPS to get the location, and that uses more battery power. The following table summarizes the options you have over the accuracy.
