JDBC/ODBC is one of the most common ways for Hive to work with other tools. Hadoop vendors, such as Cloudera and Hortonworks, offer free Hive JDBC/ODBC drivers so that Hive can be connected through these drivers, which can be found at https://www.cloudera.com/downloads/connectors/hive/jdbc.html and https://hortonworks.com/downloads/#addons.
We can use these JDBC/ODBC connectors to connect Hive from tools such as the following:
