NVIDIA GRID vGPU technology
Using proven desktop virtualization technology, users are able to access their workspace independent of their device. As a result, infrastructure costs can be lowered, while ensuring increased security and higher productivity in comparison to classic PC setups. With vSphere 6.0, VMware offers the GRID vCPU technology in partnership with NVIDIA.
Using this feature set, it is possible to share GPU resources as efficiently and fast as on local computers, to also fulfill graphic intensive application requirements. Graphic commands are passed directly to GPUs without interfering with the hypervisor. NVIDIA Tegra GPU resources are shared between virtual machines to use them more effectively. This enables end users to pick a device of their choice, which reduces device costs.
Previously, virtual desktop's user experience was at times less optimal when running graphic intensive applications, because of inefficient resource sharing.
