Introduction
Cross-vCenter NSX is a feature that was introduced in VMware NSX for vSphere 6.2. Cross-vCenter NSX allows for NSX networking and security support across multiple vCenter servers, which allows you to span NSX services across vCenter boundaries that may be tied to geographic boundaries. Logical switches, distributed logical routers, and the distributed firewall can all now be deployed across multiple vCenter domains.
Cross-vCenter functionality provides the following key benefits:
- Provides a comprehensive solution covering layer 2 and layer 3 Logical Networking and Distributed Firewall across vCenter boundaries
- Decouples these constructs from the underlying network infrastructure
- Fully integrated software solution and is not dependent on hardware
- Overcomes scaling limitations of a single vCenter deployment and allows up to eight vCenter servers to be configured in a Cross-vCenter topology
- Increases the span of NSX logical networks, which allows for:
- Capacity pooling across multiple...
