Deploying VMware ThinApp

This recipe will go through the steps required to prepare a desktop for capturing applications using ThinApp.

Getting ready

VMware ThinApp requires a computer with the ThinApp application installed in order to capture applications. The ThinApp-captured computer should have a clean installation of Microsoft Windows that only has the base operating system installed. To ensure that the captured applications will be compatible, the ThinApp desktop should be representative of the master virtual desktop image that will be used with Horizon View, with similar core applications and tools installed.

Note

The ThinApp-captured computer should also have the same Windows components installed as the computers on which the application will run. If components such as the Microsoft .NET Framework are required by the application and installed on the capture computer but not installed on the computers where ThinApp will be used, the applications will not work.
