The tools and techniques available for data persistence
As we said previously, persisting data is vital to an application’s proper functioning. So, let’s look at different ways in which we can persist data in Flutter applications. Talking about persistence techniques, there are three broad types: persisting a key-value pair, saving data in files, and finally, saving data using SQL databases. Persisting key-value pairs is the simplest method and can be used for simple data, mostly primitive types. By using key-value pairs, we can persist simple user settings, such as the chosen theme, or things such as the offline cache of an API query where the URL will be the key. Using files, we can write any kind of data; however, managing those ourselves is a challenge. Both of these methods, using key-value pairs or files, don’t provide us with advanced features, such as searching and filtering. We can only save and get data.
