Introduction to OpenDaylight
ODL project started in 2013 as an industry effort to decouple networking hardware and software. The intention is to create a common industry-supported SDN platform and allow end users to build powerful networking applications with a plug-n-play architecture.
ODL is an open source project under the Linux foundation supported by networking vendors and operators who want to leverage SDN capabilities and handle specific networking use cases. It has a flexible architecture that allows new networking hardware to be easily integrated into the SDN framework.
The most recent release of ODL is named Beryllium and was released in early 2016. You can visit http://www.opendaylight.org for the latest updates about ODL.
