AVD for a break/fix scenario

Most companies give their employees a company device such as a laptop or desktop. How often does a hardware issue occur that needs to be fixed by the hardware vendor? Depending on the severity of the issue, the employee can’t use the device for a couple of hours to a couple of days. In the worst case, the workstation is beyond repair and will have to be replaced by the IT admin.

It’s in a situation like this that AVD can help. Let’s see why:

  • Users who need to wait for their device can request access to a pooled AVD environment. Since AVD is a very scalable solution, deploying an additional session host or adding the user to the host pool doesn’t take much time.
  • The IT admin can deploy an AVD host pool for this use case with the software installed like the Microsoft Office applications and Teams. This way, the users have basic functionality while they wait for their own devices.
