Creating load rules for flat file data loads


In this recipe, we will set up a load rule to quickly load from a flat file into our Sample Basic database.

Getting ready

To get started, click on your Start menu and navigate to Programs | Oracle EPM System | Essbase | Essbase Administration Services | Start Administration Services Console. In the Log in menu, enter your Administration Server, Username, Password, and click on the Log in button.

How to do it...

  1. Open up an Excel workbook; enter the values in the following image, and save the tab as delimited on your Sample Basic database directory with the name LoadRuleExample.txt for ease of use. The URL for the Sample Basic database is as follows in version 11.1.2.x:

    ..\ Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\app\Sample\Basic

  2. Drill down on the Essbase Server in EAS and the Applications node. Select the Sample Basic database, right-click on the Basic database, select Create, and then Rules File. The Data Prep Editor...
