Retrieving data using UDAs and Attributes
In this recipe, we will retrieve data in a financial report using UDAs and Attributes. Although both of these options allow you to retrieve subsets of data, you should know their strengths in order to create better reporting. Consider using UDAs over Attributes when retrieving from dense dimensions or if you have to assign UDAs to various different levels in your hierarchy. Consider Attributes over UDAs when you want to conduct cross-tab reporting.
Getting ready
Click on the Start menu, select Oracle | Financial Studio Report | Financial Studio Report, enter your User ID, enter your password, modify the Server URL, and click on OK. Your Server URL should be http://EssbaseServer:Port
if you are not using SSL.
How to do it...
Click on the File menu, select New, and click on Report.
