Cross Functional Teams (CFTs)
I touched on CFTs when discussing the business logistics – the structure of an organization. A CFT is a group of individuals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets who come together to work on a specific project or goal. For a particular IT project, this would be one of these teams:
- Project management: The project management team brings a structured approach to planning, executing, and monitoring the progress of a project to the CFT. The CFT is typically led by a project manager or team leader and is designed to break down silos and encourage collaboration between departments.
The project management team performs the following duties:
- Makes sure IT project(s) are completed on time, within budget, and meet the requirements of the business stakeholders
- Defines project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation
- Creates project plans and schedules, identifies and manages risks, and tracks progress against milestones
- IT operations...
