Configuring security for release definitions


Like other modules in TFS, release management also uses the role-based permission model for security. Permissions define the authorizations that can be granted or denied to users and groups. In this recipe, you'll learn about the different levels at which security can be applied for release management.

Getting ready

To administer the permissions for release management, you need to have Administer release permissions set to Allow. This is, by default, set to Allow for members of the Project Administrators and Release Administrators Group:

How to do it…

  1. Navigate to the Release hub in FabrikamTFVC Team Project. From the All release definitions context menu, choose Security... to open the permission dialog. This will allow you to administer the permissions for all release definitions in the Team Project:
