Creating your first enhanced report


It's time now to create our first enhanced or RDLC report. As I did in the previous chapter, I'll start with a simple Customer List, and then enhance it with grouping, sorting, and interactive features.

I will not focus on the classic report designer. The focus in this chapter is on the enhanced report design. The classic report designer was already covered in Chapter 2.

To start the development of our first enhanced report, I will create a new report, based upon the Customer table and put some fields on the body section of the Customer data item: No, Name, City, Country Region Code, SalesPerson, Currency, Sales (LCY), and Profit (LCY), as you can see in the next screenshot:

When you run this report from within the Classic client, this is what you see:
