The promotion and tenure portfolio

This topic could be an entire chapter itself, if not an entire book. This recipe will build a P & T portfolio for a professor of Higher Education (though it could be adapted for other uses). Each institution has slightly different requirements for the documentation needed to achieve promotion and tenure. Even within institutions, there can be significant differences in the requirements of various departments. Most P & T portfolios have a set of common categories: Personal Statement, Curriculum Vitae, Teaching, Scholarship, Service, and References. Keeping this in mind, the intent of this recipe is not to provide a template for ubiquitous use, but an example of what is possible, and some ideas that you may find helpful in building your own P&T portfolio.
