When our extension saves new contacts, the highlighted elements representing the elements containing microdata are given a new CSS class name and have some very minimal additional styling added to them.

This is ok, but a better way of confirming success would be to make use of Chrome's desktop notification system to generate growl-style pop-up notifications that confirm success instead.
