Configuring SharePoint Services
Configuring SharePoint Services is the first thing we must do before creating web applications that hold content for our users. In this section, we will start adding services to our farm and configuring areas for monitoring and logging. The following exercises will help us complete all the preparation we need to do to support the creation of web applications that serve our user's communities. This will allow them to start using the farm to share content and use the services provided.
There are different methods you can use to configure your SharePoint farm; that is, PowerShell, GUI, or AutoSPInstaller. Figure out what works best for you. In this book, we will be using a combination of PowerShell and GUI to show you how things are done from an illustrative perspective, though scripts that show you how to do this manually will also be provided.
