This book really appears to have been (badly) written by ChatGPT with some editing. The rambling and stilted style appears like word salad - you just read something, but nothing was really said. Content is mostly chapter titles followed by definitions that could have been pulled from the Internet. I would give it zero stars, except there was some redemption in the 3 chapters about Linux distributions (chapters 6, 7, 8). I consider my money wasted on this book. I bought it in a bundle with John Foresay's The Dark Web Dive, which was actually quite good. I recommend you get that book instead.

Hands-On Dark Web Analysis is both well-written and great for anyone who wants to start safely exploring or researching the Dark Web.We all need to begin somewhere and Sion Retzkin brilliantly explains in plain english what the Dark Web is and how to navigate this part of the hidden internet. I am a legal researcher, IT engineer and ex-librarian. This book was perfect for me and answered everything I wanted to know. It is not an exhaustive explanation of the Dark Web but which book is. Never rely on just one book for understanding a concept or topic.The book description lists exactly what is contained in Hands-On Dark Web Analysis. You therefore know before purchasing, what you are getting. I would recommend this book.

Written when sensationalist tones. Reminded me of the 2001 NBC Dateline talking about “raves” and teenage drug use. Only useful tidbit I got was discovering an ultra obscure & secure version of Linux. Packt is a fantastic publisher, but I don’t know what happened with this one.

As a security enthusiast I was really let down by this book. Reading the description you get the impression you will be learning all the different ways you can safely navigate the Deep Web as well as the Dark Web. But in reality most of it is about installing different operating systems and the author just rambling about the most common known ideas about the Deep Web and Dark Web.
