Using Next Style
Next Style is a simple enough feature in InDesign, which allows you to have the paragraph style automatically switch to a different paragraph style when you start a new paragraph, but it can be quite handy nonetheless. You can use Next Style to do something as simple as automatically switching to your subheader style after typing a header, rapidly creating things like definition lists without the need to keep manually switching styles, or even enabling and disabling it from within object styles for styling text within an object style.
In this recipe, we will look at using Next Style to automatically format a definition list as we type it, which should give you a good idea of how it works.
Getting ready
