Defining and planning your disaster recovery objectives
Defining and planning DR objectives are crucial steps in developing a comprehensive DRP. The following diagram shows the flow of the DRP:

The following are the steps to define and plan the DR objectives shown in the preceding figure:
- Identify critical business processes: Identify the critical business processes that are essential to the organization’s operations and revenue generation. These processes should be prioritized for recovery in the event of a disaster.
- Determine RTO: Determine the maximum amount of time that critical business processes can be down before significant financial or operational impact occurs. This will help determine the RTO for each process.
- Determine RPO: Determine the maximum amount of data that can be lost during a disaster. This will help determine the RPO for each process.
