This chapter offers an in-depth look at the options that can be utilized for identity management within Microsoft Azure Stack Hub. It covers both the connected and disconnected scenarios for Microsoft Azure Stack Hub. It details the different ways of communicating with Active Directory (AD) both on-premises and in Microsoft Azure. We will touch on both Azure Active Directory (AAD) and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS). This chapter introduces some key terminology that we will see more of as we progress through the rest of this book.
