In order to perform the activities in this chapter, you will need to have access to an AWS account and have the necessary permissions to create and manage a VPC and launch EC2 instances. Access control and permissions were covered in Chapter 4, Working with Access Policies.
Knowledge of how to create an EC2 instance within a VPC is essential. You must have a basic understanding of the TCP/IP protocol and subnetting, and lastly, an understanding of the AWS global infrastructure is important.
