Summary
This chapter completes our trilogy of chapters on the preliminary design by introducing the Library concept, which is applied to Doors, Windows, and other parametric objects, but also pops up in many other tools as well. This is the core power of Archicad and its GDL. We also introduced the nifty and versatile Morph tool to make almost any shape you want.
While we weren’t able to show you every possibility that these tools bring, you should have gained a good understanding of how Archicad works, how it expects you to enter accurate dimensions and sizes, and how you can combine all of these to make a basic model of a building, including Walls, Slabs, Roofs, Beams, Columns, Stairs, Zones, Doors, Windows. And lastly, we have also explored the Morph tool for those rare situations where other tools do not suffice in terms of geometry.
In the next chapter, we will compile our results into a drawing set, ready for printing.
