Summary
In this chapter, we saw industry examples for temperature control and the challenges faced by machine builders and software developers to build accurate and precise temperature control systems. We initially introduced the challenges any temperature application brings. We introduced this challenge by taking a day-to-day application of boiling water, which set the tone of the chapter. We then navigated and explained how temperature control functions as a control challenge. After you gained a basic understanding of the subject, we moved on to showcasing how temperature control is achieved in actual machines with a controller, either a dedicated or an integrated one. In addition, we also saw how I/O modules play a role in measuring temperature and how heaters are controlled. We also introduced you to an application and how a typical application works in the field or a machine for manufacturing products using a flowchart. Finally, we introduced you to how the PID controller works...
