Understanding distributed data sources
As we already mentioned, it’s pretty common that when establishing your Nautobot Source of Truth (SoT), there could be other data sources that contain relevant data. You may be asking yourself, “What is relevant data?” Well, everything you need to know in order to define the intended state of your network.
This can take many forms, as you have already seen from locations, racks, cables, devices, users, cloud services, IP addresses, circuits, and so on. The list is very long. There is a lot of data that you may require to create a device configuration. And, as we said, the data can already be found in some systems that are used for other purposes.
