Introduction to NLP

NLP is an area of artificial intelligence (AI) that deals with spoken and written language meaning. This utilizes a machine’s ability to analyze, understand, infer, and manipulate interactions that are human-like with their language response. With NLP, algorithms and computing models are built and deployed that enable computers to understand, interpret, and create human language according to a certain meaning.

The discipline of AI is nothing new and is based on computer sciences from many previous decades ago. The history and lineage of machine learning (ML) are rooted within the mathematics, statistics, and logic disciplines.

Back in time, and only until recently, we used the term cognitive in our language in expressing AI topics; this was to reflect the close relationship between human beings’ cognitive abilities and the machines’ goals of emulating these.
