Troubleshooting external connectivity

Verifying external connectivity is done using the show external-l3 or show external-l2 command. From here, we can see the layer 3 adjacencies, and the ports through which these adjacencies have formed, or the layer 2 connectivity (such as to an FEX).

How to do it...

The context-sensitive help becomes very useful here (as it does everywhere else).

      apic1# show external-l3 ?
      bgp           Show command for BGP peers
      eigrp         Show command for external-l3 eigrp
      epg           Show command for external-l3 epgs
      interfaces    Show command for external-l3 interfaces
      ospf          Show command for external-l3 ospf
      route-map     Show command for external-l3 route-map
      static-route  Show command for external-l3 static routes
      apic1#

We can look at our interfaces and see which node, tenant, tenant VRFs and interfaces, and IP addresses are used for form the adjacencies:

apic1# show external-l3 interfaces
