API product retrospective
An API product retrospective is a systematic review and analysis of the development, deployment, and performance of an API product after a specific period or milestone. This retrospective provides an opportunity for the development team, stakeholders, and other relevant parties to reflect on the API’s journey, identify successes and challenges, and discuss opportunities for improvement. As with any retrospective, people tend to focus on what went wrong. Instead, I invite you to start by recalling the success of the API.
Look back to when you first introduced the API you’re now retiring. Remember why you built the API and what your business objectives were at that time. Did the API help your organization achieve those proposed objectives? To what extent did the API contribute to the success of your company?
