Summary
In this chapter, we learned how to increase the apparent level of detail of a model using normal maps and texture painting. We learned how to bake normal maps for three purposes: simulating bumpy surfaces, placing details such as bevels on low-poly objects, and painting decals onto surfaces to create more details.
In the next chapter, we will begin the third, final, and most advanced project of this book, where we will model, rig, texture, and render a high-poly T-72 tank using all the techniques we have learned so far.
