Migrating management and VMkernel interfaces between vSphere Standard and Distributed Switches
The VMkernel interfaces are still managed at the host level. When you plan to migrate the VMkernel interfaces from vSwitch to DSwitch, you need to make sure that the DSwitch uplinks are configured to support the VMkernel network traffic.
How to do it...
The following procedure explains how to migrate the management network from vSwitch to DSwitch:
With the ESXi host selected, navigate to Manage | Networking | Virtual switches, and select the DSwitch and click on the migrate networking icon:
Since this is an existing DSwitch, the uplinks already have the physical NIC mapping. Click on Next to continue:
Select the VMkernel interface corresponding to the management network and bring up the Select Network window and select a destination dvPortGroup, and click on Next:
Review the Validate changes screen, and click on Next to continue.
