Exporting the vSphere Distributed Switch configuration
With vSphere 5.1, you now have an option to export the DSwitch configuration. Using this functionality you can now backup the DSwitch configuration when needed.
How to do it...
The following procedure explains how to export the DSwitch configuration:
Right-click on the DSwitch and navigate to All vCenter Actions | Export Configuration to bring up the Export Configuration dialog box.
Select the configuration to export. You can choose between exporting Distributed switch and all port groups or Distributed switch only. Supply an optional description if needed, and click on OK to export the configuration:
Click on Yes in the Confirm Configuration Export dialog box:
Select a location to save the exported configuration to, and click on Save to create a backup
